Welcome to Albert Harris Elementary School, Home of the Wildcats!

I am truly honored and excited to serve as the Principal of AHES. My dedication to educating and supporting every student's success has been shaped through many years in the Martinsville City Public School System. I have had the privilege of working as an elementary teacher, a business and computer technology instructor, and an assistant principal. Each of these roles has reinforced my commitment to ensuring that every student thrives through the implementation of effective instructional practices and comprehensive support for their learning journey.

Our top priority is to ensure a safe and organized environment for all students. Our dedicated faculty and staff will implement effective educational strategies to support this goal. Instruction will feature a well-aligned curriculum that incorporates the Benchmark Reading curriculum, Haggerty, UFLI, LETRS, and West Virginia Phonemic Awareness programs. Additionally, AHES will utilize AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) strategies, offering computerized instruction through the Canvas platform, alongside gradually released math and science manipulative lessons. Our school counselors will also provide Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons to help students navigate various life challenges.

 It’s clear that collaboration is essential for helping our children reach their full potential. I believe that schools and communities must unite as a supportive extended family to ensure the success of every student. It is our collective responsibility to equip children with the creative, intellectual, and decision-making skills they need to thrive academically, socially, physically, and emotionally.
